Role Description
This is a full-time Health Care Assistant role based in Swindon, with a hybrid working arrangement that allows some duties to be carried out from home. Day-to-day responsibilities include providing person-centered care to individuals in their homes or care settings, supporting with personal hygiene, mobility, nutrition, and daily living activities. The Health Care Assistant will assist with medication prompts in line with care plans, monitor and report changes in service users’ physical and emotional well-being, and maintain accurate, confidential care records. The role also involves working collaboratively with nurses, doctors, and other healthcare professionals, following care protocols and safeguarding procedures, and promoting dignity, respect, and independence at all times. The Health Care Assistant is expected to uphold Kome Care’s core values, adapt to changing care needs, and provide compassionate support to service users and their families.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess core care skills such as personal care, mobility support, assistance with nutrition, and basic observation monitoring.
- Candidates should possess communication and interpersonal skills, including active listening, empathy, clear documentation, and professional collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
- Candidates should possess safety and compliance skills, such as understanding safeguarding, infection control, confidentiality, and adherence to care plans and policies.
- Candidates should possess organizational and reliability skills, including time management, punctuality, and the ability to work independently and within structured routines.
- Candidates should possess digital and administrative skills, including basic computer literacy for electronic records and comfortable use of remote communication tools for hybrid working.
- Previous experience as a Health Care Assistant, support worker, or similar role in health or social care settings is highly beneficial.
- A relevant care qualification (e.g., NVQ/QCF Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care) and current training in moving and handling, first aid, and medication awareness are advantageous.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, eligibility to work in the UK, and satisfactory background and reference checks are required
