An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Category Manager to join a leading global engineering company. This strategic procurement role will be responsible for developing and delivering category strategies, driving supplier performance, and supporting long-term supply chain optimisation initiatives.
Working closely with engineering, operations, and business stakeholders, you will lead sourcing activities across a complex supplier base, identifying and qualifying new suppliers, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring the organisation is positioned to support future programme growth.
Main Duties: Category Manager
- Develop and execute category and sourcing strategies aligned to business objectives.
- Identify, assess, qualify, and develop new suppliers.
- Manage supplier relationships and drive continuous performance improvement.
- Lead commercial negotiations covering contracts, pricing, lead times, and service agreements.
- Support cost reduction and value improvement initiatives.
- Optimise inventory performance across the procurement portfolio.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support supply chain and procurement transformation programmes.
The ideal will be able to demonstrate the following Category Manager
- Proven experience in Category Management, Strategic Sourcing, or Procurement within a manufacturing or engineering or equivalent environment.
- Strong knowledge of PCBAs (Printed Circuit Board Assemblies).
- Experience developing sourcing strategies and managing supplier selection processes.
- Strong commercial and negotiation skills with the ability to secure favourable outcomes.
- Ability to build effective relationships across suppliers and internal stakeholder groups.
- Results-driven with a proactive and collaborative approach.
