The Opportunity

Our client is a well-established food manufacturing business supplying major retail and foodservice customers across the UK and Ireland. Following continued investment and growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Managing Director to lead the business through its next phase of development.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a commercially minded operational leader who enjoys developing people, improving performance and driving long-term business success.

The Role

Reporting to the business owner, you will have overall responsibility for the leadership and performance of the business, ensuring operational excellence while delivering sustainable growth.

You will work closely with the senior leadership team to develop strategy, strengthen customer relationships and create a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership across the business.
  • Lead and develop the senior leadership team.
  • Drive operational excellence across manufacturing, engineering, technical, supply chain and commercial functions.
  • Deliver improvements in productivity, efficiency, quality and profitability.
  • Develop and execute business growth strategies.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key retail and foodservice customers.
  • Ensure the highest standards of food safety, quality and health & safety.
  • Monitor business performance through KPIs and financial reporting.
  • Identify opportunities for investment, innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Foster a positive, high-performance culture across the organisation.

About You

  • Significant senior leadership experience within food manufacturing.
  • Strong background in chilled and high-care manufacturing environments.
  • Proven experience leading large manufacturing operations.
  • Commercially aware with experience managing budgets and business performance.
  • Excellent leadership and people development skills.
  • Experience working with major UK retail and/or foodservice customers.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A hands-on leadership style with a passion for continuous improvement.
