Estate Manager – Conservation and Land Management
Location: Field-based across a national portfolio of conservation and land management sites, with travel expected around 2 days per week

The Role
This is a practical, delivery-focused role responsible for making sure conservation and land management work happens in the right place, right season, and right way, on time and on budget, across a national estate of sites. You’ll be hands-on with site visits and species monitoring, and lead delivery through contractors, tenant farmers, or an in-house rangers team, while also helping shape how future sites are designed and managed.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake regular site visits across the estate
- Carry out ongoing monitoring and surveys for non-native invasive species
- Lead on securing permissions and consents needed to carry out site management works
- Lead delivery of site infrastructure and land management projects, whether through contractors, tenant farmers, or building and managing an in-house rangers team
- Design and roll out in-house GIS tools to help capture key site management information
- Work as part of a cross-specialisation team designing future sites
- Support the wider team through site accreditation and registration processes
What We Are Looking For
Essential:
- Confident communicating with landowners and consultants directly
- Previous experience using or working with agricultural and arboricultural machinery
- A pragmatic, hands-on approach to problem solving, able to deliver practical solutions quickly
- Willingness to travel around 2 days a week
Desirable:
- A broader understanding of land or habitat management and ecological surveying, given the sites delivered need to meet target criteria within set timescales
