SEND Project Manager – Project- Nottingham City – £500 per day
Project Manager The Project Manager will be part of a team working to support the planning and delivery of the SEND reforms, local strategic priorities. The postholders will manage complex, multi-workstream programmes involving education, health and social care partners, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope and budget, and result in measurable improvements in outcomes for children and young people with SEND and their families. There are two roles working on the development and implementation of the SEND Reforms including the Expert at Hand Offer. A knowledge of SEND legislation, reforms and practical experience working within a SEND related role is desirable.
The roles will:
- Lead SEND transformation projects, using recognised project management methodologies.
- Develop and maintain project plans, milestones, risks, issues, dependencies and benefits realisation plans.
- Coordinate multiple workstreams
- Track progress against agreed outcomes, ensuring slippage and risks are identified and addressed promptly.
- Translate national policy and guidance into deliverable local projects and actions.
- Ensure projects align with statutory duties, best practice and DfE expectations.
- Work collaboratively with education, health, social care and voluntary sector partners.
- Support effective governance through programme boards,
- Engage schools, settings, parents/carers and young people in project design and delivery where appropriate.
- Produce high-quality reports, briefings and dashboards for senior leaders, elected members, boards and external bodies.
- Maintain clear audit trails and evidence for decision-making and compliance.
- Monitor project budgets and resource use where applicable.
- Support business cases, funding bids and resource planning related to SEND transformation
- Ensure value for money and effective use of public resources
- Use quantitative and qualitative data to track performance and improvement.
- Support development of KPIs, success measures and benefits realisation frameworks.
- Ensure learning from delivery is captured and informs continuous improvement.
- Model inclusive, strengths-based and child-centred approaches.
- Contribute to wider transformation and improvement activity across children’s services as required.
Experience and Knowledge
- Experience of managing complex projects or programmes in education
- Experience working in a local authority SEND system.
- Knowledge of SEND legislation, policy and system challenges (or ability to acquire quickly).
- Excellent organisational, planning and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to tailor messages to different audiences.
- Ability to analyse data, manage risks and track performance.
- Ability to work at pace in a complex, high-profile environment.
