Senior Technical Architect/ Technician or Technologist
We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and diligent Senior Technical Architect / Senior Technician / Senior Technologist to join our RIBA Chartered practice in Yeovil or London offices on a permanent basis. As part of this role, you will get a chance to work on a variety of projects types and scales within our residential and commercial sectors.
Responsibilities
- Technical leadership across projects.
- Production of all technical design information required for project delivery including specifications, tender packages, and detailed construction drawings (RIBA 4-7)
- Opportunities to lead and coordinate project teams of architects, assistants, technicians and technologists, depending on project requirements.
- Actively engage with Clients, Consultants, Contractors, and other construction professionals. Present works, chair meetings including agenda setting and minute writing.
- Producing and delivering project programmes.
- Contract administration / employers agent duties, including inspection of construction works on site.
- Opportunity for the creation and development of design proposals including preparation of designs for planning applications (RIBA 0-3)
- Lead and maintain high technical standards across projects, undertaking technical reviews and supporting quality assurance procedures.
- Carry out Designer CDM duties.
- Undertake Designer (and where appropriate, Principal Designer) duties in accordance with the Building Safety Act.
- Attend and help with site appraisals, surveys, client meetings and site inspections.
- Being part of a cohesive team, mentoring and supporting your colleagues, to grow and learn together.
- Understanding and able to manage the commercial aspects of the project, including fee preparation, resourcing, and warranties.
Requirements
- Have strong experience delivering residential projects including housing developments, apartment schemes and complex technical packages. Experience in healthcare and industrial would also be advantageous.
- Be highly motivated, organised with excellent communication skills.
- RIBA Qualified Architect with at least 5 years experience or Chartered Technologist (CIAT) with at least 5 years experience, or with 8+ years experience as a Senior Technician.
- Have a strong construction knowledge with ability to produce technical details and specifications.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of office technical standards, specifications and best practice guidance.
- Be able to demonstrate knowledge of Building Regulations and Building Safety Act requirements
- Have at least 5 years UK office based, post qualification experience.
- Be skilled in the use of AutoCAD and Revit. Experience with BIM based project delivery would be advantageous but not essential.
