Job Description:

AT A GLANCE

  • Data Scientist role with a strong applied AI and ML focus
  • Python-first environment with modern LLM and ML tooling
  • Hybrid working model with flexible arrangements
  • Salary up to £80,000 depending on experience
  • Build AI-powered features that go directly into production products

ABOUT THE COMPANY

Our client is a technology-driven business that has made a serious commitment to embedding AI and machine learning into its core products. They are not running a research function in isolation from the business. They are building applied AI solutions that ship, and they need a Data Scientist who thrives in that environment. The team is technically strong, the problems are genuinely interesting, and there is a clear mandate from the top to invest in this capability.

THE ROLE

This is an applied Data Scientist role with a strong AI and ML component. You will be designing, building, and deploying models that power real product features, working closely with software engineers to ensure your work makes it into production rather than staying in a notebook. The role spans the full lifecycle: from framing the problem and preparing data, through to model development, evaluation, deployment, and monitoring. You will also be working with LLMs and generative AI tooling, building pipelines that integrate language model capabilities into the product in ways that are robust, scalable, and fit for commercial use.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design and build machine learning models that solve real product and business problems
  • Develop and deploy LLM-powered features including retrieval-augmented generation, agentic workflows, and document intelligence pipelines
  • Own the full data science lifecycle from problem framing through to production deployment and monitoring
  • Work closely with software engineers to integrate models cleanly into the wider product architecture
  • Analyse large datasets to extract insight and identify opportunities for AI-driven improvement
  • Define and track model performance metrics and manage drift and degradation in production
  • Contribute to data strategy, tooling, and best practice across the team

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

Essential

  • 3+ years of commercial experience in data science or applied ML
  • Strong Python skills and proficiency with ML frameworks (scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow or similar)
  • Hands-on experience with LLMs and generative AI tooling (OpenAI, Anthropic, LangChain, LlamaIndex or similar)
  • Solid grounding in statistics, model evaluation, and experimental design
  • Experience taking models from development into production deployment
  • Right to work in the UK or Republic of Ireland

Nice to have

  • Experience with cloud ML platforms (AWS SageMaker, Azure ML or similar)
  • Familiarity with vector databases and embedding-based retrieval
  • Background in NLP or computer vision

WHY APPLY?

  • Salary up to £80,000 depending on experience
  • Hybrid working with flexible arrangements
  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Private health cover and pension contribution
  • Direct access to production impact your models will be used by real customers
  • A team that is genuinely ahead of the curve on applied AI
