About the Role

Appleberry Care is seeking experienced Senior Female Healthcare Assistants to join its domiciliary care team in Oakham and the surrounding areas.

This rewarding role involves delivering high-quality, person-centred care to clients in their own homes while supporting their independence, dignity, and overall wellbeing.

Please note: Immediate visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Sponsorship may be considered after a minimum of six months’ continuous employment, subject to business needs, sponsor licence availability, satisfactory performance, and UK immigration rules. Applicants must already have the legal right to work in the UK.

The role includes day, evening, night, and weekend shifts, with flexible scheduling based on availability and service requirements.

Important Requirement

This position is open to female applicants only, as providing personal care to female service users is considered an occupational requirement under Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010.

A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential.

Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Healthcare Assistant, you will:

  • Deliver compassionate personal care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting assistance.
  • Support clients with meals, medication, mobility, and daily living activities.
  • Follow personalised care plans to provide safe and effective care.
  • Promote clients’ dignity, privacy, independence, and wellbeing.
  • Monitor and report changes in clients’ health or behaviour.
  • Maintain accurate electronic care records.
  • Mentor and support junior care assistants during shifts.
  • Assist with care assessments and care plan reviews.
  • Carry out spot checks to maintain high care standards.
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies, incidents, and safeguarding concerns.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, families, healthcare professionals, and colleagues.

Essential Requirements

Applicants should have:

  • Previous experience in domiciliary or adult social care.
  • Experience in a senior or supervisory care role.
  • Strong knowledge of medication administration, safeguarding, and person-centred care.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Confidence using digital care recording systems.
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • The legal right to work in the UK.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends.
  • A caring, dependable, and professional attitude.

A Level 3 Health & Social Care qualification (or equivalent) is desirable.
