Quinlan Terry Architecture has practised classical architecture from Ipswich and Dedham since 1946. The practice is looking for a full-time Architect/Senior Project Manager to join the design and delivery team, working directly with Senior Partner Roger Barrell on classical and traditional buildings across the country.
The role includes understanding the client requirements through regular meetings, preparation of initial design, detailed design development, construction drawings, specification, and site involvement through to completion.Further information on the practice can be found at qtarchitecture.com.
What the role requires
- ARB/RICS registration and relevant post-qualification experience.
- Experience in hand drawing is preferred. Proficiency in CAD (Bentley Micro Station is used in the office).
- Sound knowledge of Building Regulations and current building practices.
- Experience in site supervision and project management in a ‘full service’ design to completion process preferred. See ‘Our Approach’ on our website.
- Ability to lead on projects, while working collaboratively and flexibly within a small team.
- A full, clean UK driving licence and access to a vehicle, as site visits across the country are a regular part of the role.
Working environment
This role is based in our office in the village of Dedham, Essex. The established team is small and close-knit, working across a range of projects at different stages, from country houses to major public and ecclesiastical commissions.

Salary is negotiable and will depend on experience, with genuine scope for progression within the practice for the right candidate.
