Medicine Safety Officer – Norfolk & Suffolk Foundation Trust
Full‑time, on‑site position based in Hellesdon Hospital, Norwich.
Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced pharmacist with a passion for medication safety to lead and support the medication safety agenda across the organisation. The role involves assessing and managing risk, initiating change, and providing assurance around the safe use of medicines.
Main duties of the job
- Lead the medication safety agenda across the organisation.
- Act as an expert specialist medicines safety pharmacist.
- Encourage medicines incident reporting and learning.
- Manage medicines incident reporting, including dissemination of lessons learned from investigations.
- Identify medicine safety issues from national guidance and embed them into clinical practice.
- Act as the organisational link with the MHRA and NHSE to receive essential communications and raise concerns related to the safe use of medicines.
- Implement local actions to improve medicine safety that align with national safety initiatives, including national patient safety alerts.
- Represent safe use of medicines as an active member of the Medicines Optimisation Committee and other Trust‑wide committees.
- Participate in the national medicine safety officer network and local/regional medicine safety groups.

Qualifications – Person Specification
Essential criteria
- GPhC registration as a pharmacist.
- Significant mental health experience.
- Knowledge of clinical governance, clinical audit and risk management.
Desirable criteria
- Membership of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society.
- Experience with digital risk management systems.
