Cygnet Joyce Parker Hospital is our emergency mental health hospital in Coventry. The service supports adults across three wards to move as quickly and safely as possible to the most appropriate and least restrictive environment. The hospital currently includes two male PICU wards and one male Acute ward, plus a male high dependency unit.
Our model of care promotes a collaborative approach by involving family, service users, commissioners and carers in the rehabilitation and recovery of the individual. A dedicated clinical team on each ward provides multi‑disciplinary input, including occupational therapy, psychology, psychiatry and nursing staff.
We are looking for an Occupational Therapist to join our Occupational Therapy Team to support recovery and rehabilitation activities in the integrated care pathway at Cygnet.
In this role you will assess, implement and develop an OT treatment programme according to service user’s diagnosis and identified needs, based on findings from assessments including associated risks, and develop treatment plans accordingly.
Occupational Therapy Directorate
Under the leadership of our occupational therapy directors we support over 150 Occupational Therapists and over 300 OT support staff, with opportunities for specialist interest groups and service development. Each service line has a clinical lead occupational therapist who develops evidence‑based practice and agreed occupational therapy pathway. We ensure our team members have a voice through participation in service model development, utilizing the expertise of our clinical lead occupational therapists.
The Successful Candidate should be/have:
- A registered Occupational Therapist with the HCPC (Health Care Professions Council).
- An understanding of working with individuals diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
- An understanding of Occupational Therapy process/interventions and can take a hands‑on approach.
- Excellent communication and time management skills.
- Passionate about student education.
- Ability to manage highly demanding clinical presentation.
- Interest in adult mental health and learning disabilities (ASD).
