As HVDC Lead Engineer, you will take ownership of the design, development, and delivery of HVDC systems from concept to commissioning. You will work closely with cross-functional teams and clients, ensuring technical excellence, safety compliance, and project success.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead engineering design and integration of HVDC converter stations and associated equipment.
- Define system architecture and technical specifications.
- Oversee performance studies including load flow, transient stability, and fault analysis.
- Interface with OEMs, utilities, and stakeholders to align technical requirements.
- Provide expert guidance during installation, testing, and commissioning.
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards (e.g., IEC, CIGRÉ, IEEE).
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to capability building within the team.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in HVDC engineering or transmission systems.
- Deep understanding of HVDC technologies (LCC, VSC), protection schemes, and control systems.
- Strong project leadership and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficient in simulation tools (e.g., PSCAD, MATLAB/Simulink, PSS®E).
- Excellent communication and technical writing skills.
- Experience in offshore or renewable HVDC applications.
- Knowledge of hybrid AC/DC grid integration.
- Familiarity with international project delivery models (EPC, FEED, turnkey).
