Ashville Medical Practice are looking to recruit a 4 SessionSalaried GP fixed term for 6 months.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will:

  • Provide high-quality, patient-centred care through routine and urgent GP consultations.
  • Assess, diagnose, treat, and manage patients presenting with a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions.
  • Undertake face‑to‑face, telephone, and online consultations as appropriate.
  • Prescribe safely and effectively in accordance with national and local guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive clinical records.
  • Participate in the management of long‑term conditions and preventative healthcare.
  • Work collaboratively with GP partners, nursing staff, administrative colleagues, and the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver safe and effective care.
  • Make appropriate referrals to secondary care and community services when required.
  • Contribute to clinical governance activities, including audit, quality improvement, and significant event reviews where appropriate.
  • Support the teaching and development of GP trainees and other learners within the practice, where appropriate.
  • Participate in practice meetings and contribute to the ongoing development of services.
  • Work in accordance with GMC guidance, NHS policies, and practice protocols to ensure the highest standards of clinical care.

We are looking to recruit a conscientious and professional Salaried GP to join our team on a temporary 6‑month contract, working 4 sessions per week. We are flexible regarding the days and hours, which can be agreed to suit the successful candidate and the needs of the practice.

Job responsibilities

Job Title: Salaried General Practitioner (4 Sessions per Week)

Contract: Fixed-Term 6 Months

Responsible to: GP Partners

To provide high-quality, safe, and effective primary medical services to the practice population, delivering patient‑centred care while working collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team. The postholder will contribute to the ongoing development of the practice and uphold the highest standards of clinical governance and professionalism.

Person Specification

Experience

  • MBBS (or equivalent), full GMC registration with a licence to practise, and inclusion on (or eligibility for) the NHS England Medical Performers List.
  • Experience of working in UK General Practice with excellent clinical assessment, diagnostic, and prescribing skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a patient‑centred approach to care.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team while managing workload independently.
  • Commitment to clinical governance, continuing professional development, and delivering high‑quality patient care.
  • Experience using SystmOne – not essential as full training and support will be given.
