The Guardian is a global organisation that delivers investigative journalism and holds power to account. It develops digital products, including award-winning Android apps focused on providing fast and stable user experiences.

Задачи:

• Build and test major new features for The Guardian’s Android apps
• Improve and maintain existing app functionality
• Collaborate through pair programming and with stakeholders across iOS, server-side, web engineering, design, product, editorial, and commercial teams
• Take a leadership role in some team projects
• Guide and support other developers in their growth
• Contribute to product and technical decisions
• Explore innovative solutions and participate in regular hack days

Требования:

• Demonstrated expertise in Android development
• Strong competence in one or more modern Android development tools, including Jetpack Compose, Coroutines/Flow, MVVM, Webviews, other Jetpack libraries, and modular app architectures
• Ability to test code and promote a culture of testing
• Experience with JVM unit testing, instrumented testing, and UI regression testing
• Comfortable working with cutting-edge technologies and legacy code
• Experience in, or willingness to take on, a leadership role in team projects
• Rough understanding of iOS development and interest in learning more
• Nice to have: familiarity with Swift and ObjectiveC for iOS, Scala and Typescript for server-side development

Условия:

• £82,000 Per year
• One office day per week in Kings Cross and four remote days
• 30 Days of annual leave plus bank holidays, with the option to purchase five additional days
