NHS Scotland – Mental Health Practitioner, Meadows Child and Adolescent Trauma Service (CAMHS)
1 full‑time (36 hours) Permanent Band 6 Post located at the Rivers Centre, Fountainbridge Library, Edinburgh. The role is part of the Meadows Child and Adolescent Trauma Service which supports children and young people (0‑18 years) and their families experiencing emotional, behavioural and mental health difficulties following allegations of sexual abuse.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct individual assessment and provide therapeutic interventions with children and young people.
- Work with parents, carers and families to support recovery and wellbeing.
- Coordinate and liaise with the child/young person’s wider system, including schools, other health services and safeguarding agencies.
- Develop and implement care plans, record progress and share relevant information with multidisciplinary team members.
- Offer support to refugee and asylum seeker families across Lothian.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Professional qualification in a relevant field (e.g., nursing, social work, occupational therapy or psychology).
- Experience working in CAMHS or demonstrable ability to transfer relevant skills and experience, with knowledge of sexual abuse and mental health issues.
- Membership or record in the PVG Scheme (for either child or adult regulatory groups); if not a current member, a successful application to Disclosure Scotland will be required before beginning the post.
- Legal right to work in the United Kingdom and ability to provide the necessary permission documentation.
