The Appointment
We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and dynamic individual to be part of our Automotive team, to teach and assess across a range of programmes. You will plan, deliver and assess identified vocational programmes including commercial activities and drive developments within the area, supporting trainees to achieve on a range of programmes. Applicants will ideally hold a relevant degree or equivalent in Motor Vehicle or related subjects and have industrial experience alongside an appropriate teaching qualification. The College welcomes applications from vocational specialists who desire to pursue a career in further education and is therefore prepared to offer training for individuals to gain a recognised teaching qualification alongside this role.
You will be a highly self-motivated, energetic and driven individual, encompassing a strong sense of autonomy. You will possess strong presentation and communication skills and be able to demonstrate achievement of targets.
Applicants will require working knowledge and experience within the areas of Motor Vehicle to deliver training up to a Level 3 standard. The successful candidate will teach across a range of Motor Vehicle courses and modules aligned to their occupational skillset in-order to deliver high quality teaching, learning and assessments to our learners. In this role the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate innovative teaching and learning, coupled with excellent communication skills to motivate and guide learners to succeed.
This post carries a commitment of up to 828 delivery hours with flexibility to carry out assessments of apprentices as and when required.

The Post
2.1 Main Duties And Responsibilities
- To co-ordinate, design, deliver and develop a programme(s) of study for a group(s) of learners and apprentices in college, in the workplace and at employer’s premises.
- To develop best practice in learning, teaching and assessment ensuring standardisation and continuity.
- Assess learner/apprentice competence, knowledge and understanding according to college and awarding body assessment criteria.
- To design and develop part-time and full-time programmes.
- To design, develop and monitor resources for learner use.
- To act as personal tutor to a group/s of students and co-ordinate tutorial support liaising with the Head of Department. Provide accurate current feedback on progress and outcomes to managers and students.
- To monitor and manage student attendance and maintain appropriate standards of behaviour.
- To keep up-to-date with curriculum initiatives, development of standards and general developmental and professional issues relating to the delivery of learning in your area.
- To implement quality procedures, contributing to thorough, evaluative programme reviews which feed into the self-assessment process.
- To complete documentation, appropriate records of learner/apprentice performance and administration associated with the role and responsibilities.
- To undergo continuous professional development as appropriate and directed.
- To develop best practice in delivery including electronic and paper based portfolios and learning materials. Contribute to the development of learning materials uploaded to the College Virtual Learning Environment.
- To ensure learners and apprentices are prepared for their End Point Assessments.
- To ensure effective communication between curriculum, teaching staff, learners, apprentices and employer.
2.2 Other Responsibilities
- To uphold and promote college policies and procedures, promoting those specifically applicable to this area of work, including the Equality & Diversity and Health & Safety policies and procedures and attend training as requested.
- To comply with the college’s own safeguarding policy and practices and attend training as requested.
- To keep up to date, so far as necessary, for the efficient executing of the job, with new legislation, procedures and techniques and attend relevant mandatory training.
- To be conversant with and participate in activities and developments at college, regional and national level which are relevant to the post.
- To present and promote an appropriate public image in representing the college.
To undertake any other duties as may reasonably be required commensurate with the post
