Science Technician – Support Science Education in Leeds!

We’re looking for enthusiastic and reliable Science Technicians to support secondary schools across Leeds. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a strong scientific background who enjoys practical work and wants to play an important role in supporting students and teachers.

What does a Science Technician do?

  • Prepare and set up equipment and resources for practical Science lessons
  • Support teachers with demonstrations and practical experiments across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics
  • Ensure laboratories, equipment, and resources are safe, organised, and ready for use
  • Prepare and organise chemicals, materials, and scientific equipment in line with health and safety procedures
  • Maintain and monitor laboratory equipment and report any issues when required
  • Support the smooth running of practical lessons and help teachers deliver engaging experiments
  • Manage stock levels and order scientific equipment and consumables when needed
  • Ensure appropriate health and safety procedures are followed when handling chemicals and laboratory equipment
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and the wider Science department

What we’re looking for:

  • Previous experience as a Science Technician, Laboratory Technician, or in a relevant scientific environment is desirable
  • A degree or qualification in Science or a related subject is beneficial but not essential
  • Strong knowledge of scientific equipment, practical experiments, and laboratory procedures
  • Good understanding of health and safety procedures
  • Excellent organisational and time‑management skills
  • A practical, hands‑on approach and strong attention to detail
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a wider Science department
  • Excellent communication skills and a professional approach
  • A genuine interest in supporting young people and their education
