The Company Busy Bins are a fast growing waste management company based in Heywood and operates in the Greater Manchester Area.

  • We believe that a fair days work deserves a fair days pay.
  • We believe that the workload should be shared evenly amongst the team.
  • We appreciate a job well done.
  • We are looking for dependable, hard working and positive people to help us grow the business.

About the role

You’ll drive one of our refuse collection vehicles on a mixed round covering commercial trade waste customers and household collections across Greater Manchester. You’re responsible for the vehicle and for how our customers see us — for a lot of our customers, you are the only person from this company they will ever meet.

What you’ll do

  • Drive and take full responsibility for the safe operation of an RCV on assigned commercial and domestic rounds
  • Complete thorough daily walk-round checks and report defects properly and promptly
  • Collect, load and empty bins and containers, including physical bin handling
  • Manoeuvre and reverse safely in tight residential streets, yards and commercial premises.
  • Return bins tidily to their collection point.
  • Identify and correctly handle contaminated or non-conforming waste
  • Complete round sheets, digital records and any weighbridge documentation accurately
  • Comply with drivers’ hours, tachograph, WTD and all relevant waste-carrier regulations
  • Report incidents, near misses and customer issues honestly and immediately

Essential

  • Full UK Category C (Class 2) licence
  • Valid Driver CPC card
  • Valid digital tachograph card
  • No more than (6) penalty points; no DR, DD or IN endorsements
  • Physically capable of repetitive bin handling in all weather
  • Able to reliably start at (05:30)
  • Right to work in the UK

Desirable

  • Previous refuse, recycling or waste collection experience
  • Experience of multi-drop or route-based work
  • Rear-steer or bin-lift experience
  • Banksman or manual handling training

What we’re actually looking for

  • You turn up, every day, on time. That’s the foundation of everything else here
  • You’d rather do the round properly than do it fast
  • You look after our customers.
  • You report and communicate any issues so they can be resolved.
  • You look after your vehicle like it’s yours
