Job Summary
This post is part of the Geriatric Services team at Dr Gray’s Hospital and the community in Moray. The role is focused on expanding geriatric care, developing multidisciplinary networks across secondary and primary care, and delivering proactive, accessible interventions to promote well‑being and minimise unnecessary hospital admission.
Responsibilities
- Provide inpatient care in Ward 7 at Dr Gray’s Hospital, working alongside Nurse Practitioners, Resident Doctors, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Social Work teams.
- Support and collaborate with GP practices at the three community hospitals across Moray.
- Participate in regular multidisciplinary meetings with GP practices.
- Contribute to the development and delivery of frailty pathways, including out‑of‑hours work for the Frailty team.
- Optionally support the General Medicine on‑call rota and explore participation in the OOH medical rota.
- Lead or contribute to subspecialist areas such as Frailty at the Front Door, Acute Inpatient Care, Orthogeriatrics and Surgical Liaison, Movement Disorders, Community Hospital Rehabilitation, Alternative to Admission, Stroke Medicine and Community Care models.
- Maintain and enhance pan‑Grampian linkages, including Movement Disorders and Stroke Medicine, and develop relationships with colleagues in Aberdeen.
Qualifications
- Full registration with a licence to practise with the GMC (licence must be in place prior to starting).
- Evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or within 6 months of confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register.
- Certification of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) or Portfolio Pathway route doctors only eligible after specialist registration is awarded.
- International Recognised Specialist Qualification approved by GMC with confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register.
- For locum applicants: appropriate specialist training and experience not yet listed on the GMC Specialist Register may be considered for a locum consultant post up to 12 months.
Working Hours and Conditions
Flexible working and positions less than full time are available. The agenda for change full‑time working week will reduce from 37 to 36 hours, with a corresponding increase in the hourly rate to maintain pay. Out‑of‑hours work will be required for those in the Frailty team.
