The Governors and Headteacher at St. Bernadette’s Catholic Primary School are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Business Administration Apprentice. The purpose of the job: To provide high-quality, professional, administrative support to the school office while working towards a Level 3 Business Administrator qualification. Under the supervision of the School Business Manager, the post holder will assist in the smooth day-to-day operation of the school’s administrative functions, acting as a welcoming first point of contact for the school community.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Reception and Customer ServiceAct as the first point of contact for visitors, parents, and contractors, ensuring a professional, warm, and secure welcome.Answer telephone calls and handle general enquiries, transferring calls to appropriate staff or taking clear, accurate messages.Liaise with pupils arriving at the office, providing basic first aid support (if trained/required) or directing them to appropriate staff.Ensure the reception area remains tidy, professional, and stocked with up-to-date school information.
  2. Administrative SupportProcess incoming and outgoing mail and deliveries.Provide general clerical support, including photocopying, scanning, laminating, filing, and shredding.Assist in maintaining accurate student records using the school’s Management Information System SIMSAssist in entering attendance data
  3. Finance and Systems SupportAssist in processing school dinner bookings, trip payments, or club registrations using school payment software School Spider.Help input basic financial information, such as purchase orders, invoices and BACS payments under the guidance of the School Business Manager.
  4. Safeguarding, Security, and ComplianceStrictly adhere to the school’s safeguarding policies, ensuring all visitors sign in and out and are issued appropriate identification badges.Maintain absolute confidentiality regarding student, staff, and school records in compliance with Data Protection regulations (GDPR).
