Are you looking to build your skills? East Sussex County Council Education Division within Children’s Services is delighted to announce an exciting opportunity for a fixed term Business Administrator Level 3 Apprentice.

This is a great opportunity to begin your career in business administration while supporting services that make a real difference to children, young people, and families across East Sussex.

As a Business Administrator Level 3 Apprentice, you will be based within the Specialist Teaching Services Team at either St Mary’s House, Eastbourne, or Cavendish House, Hastings.

Apprenticeships are an excellent way to start your career, allowing you to learn and train while working alongside experienced colleagues and developing job‑specific skills. You will be assigned an apprenticeship coach and be supported day‑to‑day by a workplace mentor or supervisor.

In this role, you will provide day‑to‑day administrative support including filing, photocopying, mail handling and information updates. You’ll use Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Word and Excel confidently as part of your daily work and handle telephone and email enquiries professionally. Tasks will include preparing correspondence, reports and accurate data entry across council systems. You will support meetings and events, including diary coordination, minute‑taking and planning, and will assist with financial processes such as petty cash, invoice processing and maintaining records. This is an opportunity to develop problem‑solving skills to help staff, customers and partner agencies, and learn to manage your time effectively while completing your Level 3 apprenticeship qualification.

Required Qualifications

  • Maths and English at RQF Level 2 in Maths and English (or equivalent)
  • Applicants must not hold a qualification equal to or above in a related subject, and must have no more than 12‑24 months of work experience in an administration role.
