MLD Teaching Assistant

Location: Sheffield (Various Specialist Schools)

Contract Type: Temporary (Term‑Time Only, Monday‑Friday)

Pay Rate: £92.56‑£110 per day (inclusive of holiday pay). Higher rates available dependent on experience, qualifications, and client budget.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide targeted in‑class support to pupils with MLD, helping them access a differentiated curriculum.
  • Deliver small‑group and 1:1 interventions to boost literacy, numeracy, and communication skills.
  • Use positive behaviour strategies to build confidence, independence, and social interaction.
  • Work closely with class teachers to adapt resources and activities to meet individual learning styles.
  • Support pupils with associated needs such as speech & language delays, dyslexia, or mild physical coordination difficulties.
  • Contribute to EHCP reviews and progress tracking, feeding back to the SENCO and wider team.

What We’re Looking For

  • Minimum Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent relevant experience in education, youth work, or care).
  • Proven experience supporting children or young people with moderate learning difficulties, SEMH, or additional needs.
  • Strong understanding of differentiation, phonics, and adaptive teaching strategies.
  • Excellent communication skills and a calm, resilient approach.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
  • Two professional references covering your most recent employment.
