Your new company An established and growing civil engineering and infrastructure contractor is seeking an Ecological Advisor to join its environmental team in Scotland. Operating across a diverse portfolio of major infrastructure, construction and civil engineering projects, the organisation is committed to delivering sustainable solutions while maintaining high environmental standards.
Your new role As an Ecological Advisor, you will play a key role in supporting project teams to ensure compliance with environmental legislation, ecological commitments and best practice throughout project delivery.Responsibilities will include:
- Providing ecological advice and guidance to project teams.
- Supporting the implementation of environmental management plans and mitigation measures.
- Undertaking ecological site inspections and monitoring activities.
- Assisting with protected species surveys and habitat assessments where required.
- Liaising with environmental regulators, consultants and stakeholders.
- Supporting licence applications and consent compliance.
- Identifying environmental risks and helping to develop practical solutions.
- Delivering ecological toolbox talks and environmental awareness training.
- Contributing to environmental reporting, audits and compliance documentation.
What you’ll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A degree in Ecology, Environmental Science or a related discipline.
- Previous experience working within ecology, environmental consultancy, construction or infrastructure projects.
- Good understanding of UK environmental legislation and ecological best practice.
- Experience of protected species, habitat surveys or ecological monitoring.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites when required.
