Senior Data & Insight Analyst

Location: London (Greenford or Stratford), Manchester, or Leeds

Contract: Permanent, Full Time

A leading higher education organisation is seeking a Senior Data & Insight Analyst to join its central Data & Information team. The role will provide high-quality reporting, analysis and actionable insights to support senior leadership, business operations and strategic decision-making across the organisation.

This is a hands-on position combining data analysis, business intelligence, reporting, stakeholder engagement and data governance. You will play a key role in taking data projects from initial requirements through to solution development and implementation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead data projects from requirements gathering through to the development and implementation of reporting solutions.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to understand business requirements, challenge existing processes and recommend effective data-driven solutions.
  • Extract, prepare, combine and analyse data from multiple internal and external sources.
  • Develop and maintain interactive dashboards, analytical tools, reports and visualisations.
  • Produce accurate and timely reporting for internal and external audiences, including regulatory reporting.
  • Use Power BI, Excel and DAX to develop reporting and business intelligence solutions.
  • Monitor and improve data quality, integrity, governance and consistency across reporting environments.
  • Design and analyse organisational surveys, translating findings into meaningful insights.
  • Identify opportunities to improve reporting processes, data capabilities and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with teams across the organisation to develop new dashboards and enhance existing data products.
  • Communicate complex analytical findings and technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Maintain awareness of relevant information governance, data security and compliance requirements.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to colleagues, supporting the development of data and analytical capability across the team.

Skills & Experience

  • Degree in a numerate or analytical subject.
  • Strong knowledge of statistical techniques and data modelling.
  • Solid understanding of relational database architecture and querying.
  • Experience working with and integrating diverse datasets from multiple sources.
  • Strong T-SQL skills for data querying and transformation.
  • Extensive experience developing reports and dashboards using Power BI, including strong DAX capability.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data concepts into clear business insights.
  • Experience managing data projects from requirements through to implementation.
  • Experience with data quality, governance and information management.
  • Experience coaching or mentoring colleagues and sharing technical knowledge.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience within higher education or another regulated environment.
  • Strong Python skills.
  • Knowledge of machine learning and advanced analytical techniques.
