Location: Remote Working

Salary: £63,376 – £70,000 (plus potential market supplement)

Full-time role (part-time working hours may be considered)

Overview of the Principal Contracts Lawyer role

Sellick Partnership is delighted to be partnered with a County Council in the home counties on the recruitment of a Principal Contracts Lawyer, on a permanent basis.

Due to continued growth, this County Council is seeking a Contracts Lawyer to join their Legal Services team, to provide high quality legal advice and support the council. The successful candidate will hold responsibility for managing a small team of Contracts Lawyers.

This opportunity can be offered on a fully remote working basis.

Key responsibilities of the Principal Contracts Lawyer role

You will be responsible for drafting, advising on and reviewing a varied range of high value contract and procurement matters on behalf of this Local Authority, to include;

  • Contracts for Goods, Works and Services
  • Construction contracts, including NEC4 and JCT contracts
  • Framework Agreements

The successful candidate will be responsible for the management of a small team of Contracts Lawyers.

Required experience for the Principal Contracts Lawyer

To be considered for this local authority Contracts Lawyer position, you will have:

  • A qualification as a Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive, with current practising certificate.
  • Proven experience specifically within public sector contracts and procurement
  • Experience working within a local authority, public sector, or similar in-house legal environment is advantageous.
  • Prior experience in supervision or management
