Our client, a reputable organisation in the accounting industry, is looking for an experienced Payroll Assistant to join their dynamic team in Tonbridge. What You’ll Do
As a Payroll Assistant, your responsibilities will include:
- Processing Payrolls: Handle payroll in Real Time Information (RTI) on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
- Auto Enrolment Pensions: Administer and operate auto enrolment pensions with precision.
- Reporting: Produce payroll reports and spreadsheets for internal and client use.
- Statutory Payments: Administer SSP, SMP, SPP entitlements, and other statutory payments.
- Calculations: Calculate sickness, holiday entitlements, and redundancy payments accurately.
- Tax Documents: Process all necessary tax documents, including P45s, P46s, P60s, and student loans.
- Record Maintenance: Maintain meticulous payroll records covering sickness, holidays, maternity/paternity leave, and salary sacrifice schemes.
- BACS Transfers: Set up BACS transfers for client salaries and PAYE liabilities to HMRC.
- Year-End Declarations: Submit final year-end declarations and handle queries from clients and HMRC.
- Manual Calculations: Undertake manual calculations related to payroll queries, taxation, National Insurance, and more.
- Client Relationships: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, keeping them informed of changes and legislation.
- Support and Training: Provide training and support to new employees and junior team members.
- Compliance Management: Manage compliance for new and existing clients effectively.
What You’ll Bring
To succeed in this role, you should possess:
- Experience: Previous experience as a payroll assistant is essential
- Software Proficiency: Proficiency in Sage Payroll and auto enrolment pensions is a must. Familiarity with other payroll software, such as Xero, is advantageous
- Computer Literacy: Strong computer skills and the ability to work with various software applications.
- Initiative: A proactive approach to work and the ability to manage demanding deadlines.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with clients and HMRC.
