The National Heart Clinic is an independent cardiology clinic providing consultant led care at Harley Street and Richmond. We support patients with timely cardiovascular assessment and a professional, patient centered experience delivered by an experienced clinical team.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for an experienced specialist cardiac physiologist to join our growing team at our Richmond clinic. This is an opportunity for a careful and service focused professional to support the safe, accurate, and efficient delivery of diagnostic and health screening services.

The successful candidate will independently perform specialized cardiac diagnostic investigations, deliver exceptional patient care, and ensure the operational safety and compliance of the cardiac diagnostics department.

ROLE DETAILS

  • Location: Richmond, London
  • Salary: £68,000 to £75,000 per annum, depending on experience
  • Hours: 39 hours per week, full time or part time
  • Working pattern: Monday to Friday, with flexibility for Saturdays as the service develops

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Transthoracic Echocardiogram, Stress Echocardiogram (including treadmill), and Bubble Echocardiogram: independently perform and report
  • Resting ECGs: perform accurate ECG recordings with correct lead placement and rapid rhythm recognition
  • Exercise Tolerance Tests (ETT): independently conduct and supervise ETTs, ensuring patient safety and accurate data capture
  • Holter Monitoring (24 hours to 14 days): fit, download, analyze, and report extended Holter recordings up to 14 days, escalating urgent arrhythmias or concerning findings to consultants immediately
  • Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring (ABPM): fit, analyze, and report ABPM studies, escalating urgent hypertension patterns
  • Urgent Clinical Escalation: immediately send urgent Holter, ABPM, ECG, ETT and any other test findings to consultants
  • Report Uploading: upload all ECG, ETT, Holter, and BP reports to the clinical system promptly and accurately
  • Virtual Support: conduct telephone or video consultations to guide patients through self fitting of postal monitors
  • Patient Communication: explain procedures clearly to reduce anxiety and ensure cooperation

ABOUT YOU

  • Degree (BSc or equivalent) in Healthcare Science (Cardiac Physiology) or Physiological Sciences
  • BSE accreditation in Adult Transthoracic Echocardiography
  • Registration with RCCP, AHCS, or HCPC (where applicable)
  • Minimum 5 years experience working as a specialist Cardiac Physiologist
  • Competent in performing and analyzing resting 12 lead ECG
  • Competent in fitting and analyzing ambulatory ECG (Holter) monitors
  • Competent in ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM)
  • Competent in Exercise Tolerance Testing (ETT) following national guidelines
  • Competent in performing and reporting Transthoracic Echocardiogram, Stress Echocardiogram (including treadmill), and Bubble Echocardiogram
  • Ability to produce accurate clinical reports within agreed turnaround times
  • Excellent understanding of infection prevention, patient safety and clinical governance
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • IT literacy including Microsoft Office and clinical systems
  • MSc or postgraduate qualification in Cardiac Physiology or Echocardiography
  • Experience mentoring junior staff, leadership and supervisory role
  • Experience within private healthcare
  • Experience using electronic patient record systems such as Semble or similar
