Location: Lynton House, Ilford, IG1
London Borough of Redbridge invites applications for an experienced Senior Employment Lawyer to provide comprehensive and professional legal services. The role reports to the Principal Lawyer – Litigation within the Legal Department, advising internal departments and representing the Council in Employment Tribunals. The successful candidate will offer expert advice on employment law within the public sector and maintained schools, conduct Employment Tribunal claims, and prepare documents for contentious and non‑contentious matters.
Responsibilities
- Provide expertise and practical assistance on employment law, particularly for local government and satellite bodies.
- Conduct a full range of work types within employment law.
- Report to the Principal Lawyer (Litigation) and manage a complex, varied caseload.
- Manage an Employment Lawyer.
Requirements
- Hold a Solicitor, Barrister, FILEX or similar qualification.
- Have experience in employment law, preferably in a local government context.
- Excellent knowledge of the law and practice in employment law.
- Experience managing a wide and varied workload of contentious and non‑contentious employment matters with minimal supervision.
- All short‑listed applicants will need to demonstrate proof of right to work in the UK.
