Cloud Engineer (AWS/Multiple)

Responsibilities

• Building, testing, packaging, deploying and operating cloud platforms alongside shared platform tooling within AWS environments
• Automating the build of infrastructure resources within AWS
• Packaging services into AMIs, Docker containers or Serverless deployments
• Creating IaC using Terraform
• Delivering platform improvements and new tools
• Building AWS resources using infrastructure as code using Terraform (or CloudFormation) and Packer
• Delivering within an agile environment
• Kubernetes administration

Requirements

• Experience building AWS resources using Terraform or other IaC, competent in Python for Lambda development
• Understands the Shared Responsibility model, the key challenges when using AWS and its benefits vs on prem
• Build, deploy and operate containers (ideally Docker)
• Appreciation of AWS/cloud shared security model, can create Security Guardrails (SCP, Config, etc.)
• Knowledge of platform engineering concepts and the difference between platform and DevOps
• Understands the challenges of operating services in a production environment
• Experience with AWS security services
• A deep understanding and experience of building, testing, packaging, releasing, and deploying code and services within a team-based environment
• Kubernetes experience

Demonstrates expertise in building, testing, packaging, and deploying cloud platforms within AWS environments, utilizing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with Terraform and Docker. Proficient in Kubernetes administration and AWS security services, with a strong understanding of the shared responsibility model and platform engineering concepts.
