About the role:
justteachers is working in partnership with a specialist provision in Harrogate to recruit a KS5 Tutor to deliver a programme for post-16 learners with additional needs.
This is a rewarding opportunity for an experienced tutor who is passionate about supporting young people with SEND, including ASC, ADHD, anxiety, and SEMH needs.
Teaching takes place in a supportive environment with small class sizes of 6–8 learners, alongside an additional adult in each class to provide support.
Working pattern:
- 3 days per week delivering face-to-face teaching
- Delivery may be spread across 5 days to accommodate learner timetables
- 1 day per week supporting learners on work experience placements
- Flexibility required as learner schedules may be adapted to meet individual needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging, structured, and adapted lessons as part of a 2-year course
- Deliver learning across key themes focused on independence, employability, and life skills
- Create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment tailored to individual learner needs
- Adapt teaching approaches to support learners with ASC, ADHD, SEMH, and anxiety
- Work collaboratively with support staff to maximise learner engagement and progress
- Monitor, track and report on learner progress effectively
- Support learners in developing essential life skills and confidence for adulthood
- Provide work experience support (1 day per week), including liaising with employers and supporting learners in real-world settings
- Build strong, positive relationships that promote wellbeing, engagement, and personal development
- Contribute to a flexible and learner-centred approach to delivery
Pre-requisites:
- Relevant qualifications (e.g. PGCE, QTS)
- Proven experience supporting young people with SEND, particularly ASC, ADHD, SEMH and anxiety
- Strong understanding of inclusive teaching and adapted strategies
- Two education or school-based references
