We are seeking a dynamic, relational person, with a person for young people, to lead and develop our ministry with 11-18-year-olds, equipping them as life-long disciples.

To prepare, implement and promote a regular ‘Youth Café/Young People’s Drop-in’,operating monthly initially, but increasing in regularity when possible.

PURPOSE OF ROLE

To lead and develop our ministry with 11-18-year-olds, equipping them as life-longdisciples.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

To facilitate regular gatherings for young people from OBTM congregations. This may takethe form of a regular youth group, outings or less formal ‘get togethers’ according to theirinterest and need.

To recruit, train and support volunteers to assist with young people’s activities and events.

To assist with ‘Re:veal’, a young people’s Bible Study Group, operating in partnership withLondon Road Baptist Church.

Support and encourage young people from all OBTM congregations in their journey ofdiscipleship. This may involve some of the following:

Assisting with the support of ‘Young Leaders’ for OBTM events, mentoring,encouraging participation in Sunday worship e.g. noting interest andpromote engagement in music, tech support, drama etc,

Young people’s prayer spaces e.g. during ‘Thy Kingdom Come’. Coordinate the participation of OBTM young people at local or national Christian events e.g.Encounter, New Wine Festival, New Day, Soul Shaper or other Diocesan events.

Work within agreed budgets for young people’s activities and events. Participate in regular supervision meetings with the Rector or other designated LineManager.

Occasional attendance at other OBTM meetings, if necessary, e.g. Ministry Team, PCCs,Stipendiary Team etc.

Pursue professional development opportunities relevant to the role e.g. training, networkingand learning communities.

Operate within the Safeguarding policies and procedures of OBTM and the Church ofEngland, to promote the safety and wellbeing of young people.

Undertake such other reasonable duties as may be required from time to time as areconsistent with the responsibilities of the role.
