Location: Halton – Warrington

Salary: £13 – £13.50 Per Hour / £50 per Sleep In

Overview

We are recruiting for a dedicated and resilient Children’s Residential Support Worker to join a children’s home in Halton. This is a rewarding opportunity to work in a highly focused environment, supporting children to achieve positive outcomes in a safe, structured, and nurturing setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality, person-centred care and support to a young person with emotional and behavioural difficulties.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships and act as a consistent role model.
  • Support the implementation of care plans, risk assessments, and behaviour management strategies.
  • Promote the young person’s independence, education, and social development.
  • Maintain a safe and supportive environment in line with safeguarding procedures and Ofsted standards.
  • Accurately record daily activities, incidents, and progress reports.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider team, external professionals, and family members where appropriate.
  • Participate in shift work, including evenings, weekends, sleep-ins, and bank holidays.

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience working within a children’s residential home is essential.
  • Experience supporting children with EBD and/or challenging behaviours.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond effectively to challenging situations.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.

Desirable

  • NVQ Level 3 in Children & Young People’s Workforce (or equivalent) – preferred but not essential.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care practices.
  • Full UK driving licence.
