About Star Central
Star Central, which is based at our head office in Blackburn, Lancashire, provides leadership, strategic direction and support to Star Academies, Star Talent Academy and our schools.
The Star Central team includes experts from a range of professional backgrounds, who work together to provide an outstanding support service to the Star community. We support our schools to provide educational and operational excellence and to cultivate a strong Star community, with the aim of nurturing today’s young people and inspiring tomorrow’s leaders.
Who we’re looking for
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Star Governance team, working as a Local Governance Support Officer. You will work closely with many key individuals at the heart of our decision-making process.
We are looking for an individual who has exceptional writing skills, is able to understand and present information clearly, and can manage and prioritise competing demands and deadlines.
Working closely with our senior leadership team, trustees, star central staff, schools and governors, and other stakeholders, you will primarily support our trust or school committees by providing an efficient governance support and advice service that meets statutory and regulatory compliance requirements. This will enable our trustees or governors to make effective decisions and provide key scrutiny to the trust/school operations.
You will work as part of an expanding and professional team who will enable you to develop and demonstrate your skills in a supportive environment. It’s an excellent opportunity for someone who wishes to start, develop or progress their career in the academy/corporate governance sector.
We welcome applications from both experienced governance professionals and graduates looking to begin a rewarding career in governance, business support, public administration, law, policy, compliance or related fields.
You will have
- An A Level/NVQ qualification Level 3 (or equivalent).
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to edit documents accurately with the ability to correct spelling, punctuation and grammatical errors; ensuring clear formatting and presentation.
- The ability to manage your own workload effectively and prioritise competing deadlines.
- An awareness of, or a keen interest in academy/corporate governance and the need to ensure regulatory needs are met.
