We’re currently supporting a Local Authority in the South with the search for an experienced Interim Principal Financial Accountant to join their team on an initial 6-month contract.
This is an excellent opportunity for a senior finance professional to play a key role in strengthening financial governance, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring robust financial accounting, compliance, and stakeholder engagement across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial accounting and reporting
- Technical accounting and statutory compliance
- Balance sheet management and provisions, including the production of MIRS
- Programme and scheme management
- Financial analysis and insight Governance, internal controls, and risk mitigation
- Stakeholder engagement
- People leadership, support, and training
What We’re Looking For
The successful candidate will have:
- Significant experience within Local Government finance
- Financial accounting and reporting
- Technical accounting and statutory compliance
- VAT compliance and financial controls
- Balance sheet management and reconciliations
- Financial governance and continuous improvement
- Stakeholder engagement across multiple levels
- Leading and developing finance teams
Contract Details
- Hybrid working
- Circa £550 per day
- Initial 6-month contract
