Waldorf Astoria London – Admiralty Arch is seeking a Commis Chef – Coreus by Clare Smyth to join the pre‑opening team for this highly anticipated luxury hotel opening later this year.
Located at the end of The Mall opposite Buckingham Palace, the hotel will feature 100 elegant rooms and suites, 17,500 sqft of private residences, and two signature restaurants: Coreus by Clare Smyth and Café Boulud. The role will contribute to the guest dining experience at the flagship luxury brand.
Responsibilities
- Produce consistently high‑quality cuisine in alignment with Hilton’s luxury brand standards.
- Execute kitchen tasks with accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness.
- Support kitchen revenue performance through disciplined food cost control.
- Provide reliable and proactive assistance to the kitchen brigade.
- Prepare and present dishes to exacting standards, following company guidelines.
- Maintain immaculate work areas, ensuring strict adherence to cross‑contamination protocols.
- Complete all required mise‑en‑place for assigned menus and service periods.
- Support interdepartmental collaboration and maintain positive professional relationships.
- Promptly identify and report maintenance, hygiene, or safety concerns.
- Comply fully with hotel security, fire regulations, and all health, safety, and food hygiene legislation.
- Demonstrate awareness of departmental targets and actively contribute to their achievement.
- Consistently meet and exceed all health and hygiene requirements.
- Operate with environmental awareness, supporting the hotel’s sustainability commitments.
Qualifications and Experience
- Previous experience as a Commis Chef or Apprentice Chef in a professional kitchen.
- NVQ Level 1 qualification or equivalent.
- Positive, motivated, and professional attitude.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to perform calmly and effectively under pressure.
- Proven capability to follow instruction while contributing to a high‑performing team.
- Clear passion for learning and long‑term development in a culinary hospitality career.
- Proof of completion of a basic food hygiene certification.
- Accomplishment of an accredited commercial cookery course or culinary apprenticeship.
- Experience multitasking within environments demanding rigorous operational and quality standards.
Preferred Additional Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 qualification.
- Previous experience as a Commis Chef within a luxury or ultra‑luxury hospitality environment.
