We are working with a specialist SEMH school in Thurrock that is looking to appoint a dedicated and compassionate Youth Support Worker to join their supportive team from September.
This specialist school supports pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, providing a structured, nurturing, and supportive environment where pupils are encouraged to develop positive relationships, emotional regulation skills, and independence. The school focuses on understanding each pupil as an individual and providing the right support to help them re‑engage with learning and succeed.
As a Youth Support Worker, you will work closely with teachers, pastoral teams, and wider support staff to provide personalised support to pupils throughout the school day. You will help young people manage challenges, develop coping strategies, build self‑esteem, and access learning in a positive and supportive environment.
The ideal candidate will:
- Have experience supporting children or young people with SEMH needs, SEND, or challenging behaviour
- Be patient, resilient, and empathetic when supporting pupils with a range of needs
- Have a genuine passion for helping young people overcome barriers and achieve their goals
- Be confident in building trusting and positive relationships
- Be able to provide consistent support and encouragement in challenging situations
- Work effectively as part of a supportive and collaborative team

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
