Building Engineer / Assistant Project Manager

Our client is seeking a proactive and ambitious Building Engineer / Assistant Project Manager to join their expanding team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their career within construction project management while working on a diverse range of projects across the UK.

Working alongside experienced Project Managers, the successful candidate will play a key role in coordinating projects, managing site activities, and helping to deliver projects safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate construction projects from inception through to completion.
  • Manage site installations on projects located throughout the UK.
  • Monitor and coordinate site staff, subcontractors, and suppliers during the design, construction, and handover phases.
  • Support capital projects, including principal design, specification, procurement, installation, and commissioning.
  • Prepare component specifications and assist with purchasing activities.
  • Support project planning, scheduling, and programme management.
  • Select, coordinate, and manage contractors and subcontractors.
  • Monitor project costs and maintain cost schedules against agreed budgets.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with company procedures, current legislation, and Health & Safety requirements.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, records, and progress reports.
  • Provide practical, hands-on operational support on site throughout project delivery.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience within the construction or building services industry.
  • A degree in civil engineering
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • The ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive and practical approach.
  • A good understanding of Health & Safety requirements.
  • Competency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Previous experience in project coordination, site engineering, construction management, or a similar role would be advantageous but is not essential for the right candidate.
