We are looking for two compassionate and dedicated Healthcare Assistants to join our team and play a key role in the delivery of high-quality patient care within our Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) clinics. Working alongside experienced clinical staff, you will support the smooth and efficient running of our outpatient services, helping to ensure every patient receives a positive and professional experience.
We are recruiting for the following positions:
- 1 x Full-time Healthcare Assistant – 5 days per week (37.5 hours),Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 17:00
- 1 x Part-time Healthcare Assistant – 3 days per week (22.5 hours), Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 08:30 to 17:00
Both roles will be primarily based at Northgate Medical Practice, however successful candidates will also be expected to provide cover at Sellindge Surgery for our ENT clinics as required, including cover for sickness and annual leave.
We offer 6 weeks annual leave pro rata, and salary will be dependent on experience.
Main duties of the job
- Assist clinical staff during ENT consultations and procedures, including the preparation and positioning of patients to ensure their comfort and safety
- Prepare and maintain clinical environments, ensuring all equipment and instruments are clean, sterilised and ready for use ahead of each clinic
- Provide patients with clear information, comfort and reassurance before, during and after procedures, helping to put them at ease throughout their visit
- Adhere to infection control policies and maintain compliance with all health and safety standards at all times

- Urinalysis and preparation of specimens forinvestigation by the pathology laboratory

- Wound care/removal of sutures/dressingprocedures following local recommendations and using aseptic techniques
- Stocking measuring
- Administration of B12
- Administer the influenza, shingles andpneumococcal vaccine
- Surgical equipment and vaccine re-stockingand stock rotation
- Preparing and maintaining environments andequipment before, during and after patient care interventions includingassisting GPs during the performance of minor operations
- Assisting in the assessment and surveillanceof patients health and well-being
- Undertaking specific clinical activities fornamed patients that have been delegated and taught specifically in relation tothat individual
- Helping to raise awareness of health andwell-being and how it can be promoted
- Assisting with the collection and collationof data on needs related to health and well-being

Person Specification
Experience
- Previous experience working in an ENT or outpatient clinical setting
- Previous experience working in a GP practice
Qualifications
- GCSE English and Maths at grade C/4 or above (or equivalent)
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent)
- Up-to-date mandatory training including Basic Life Support and infection control
