HGV Mechanic/Technician
Location: Derby, DE21Salary: £37,280 per annumHours: Full Time, 37 hours per week
We're recruiting on behalf of Derby City Council for an experienced HGV Technician to join their Fleet Workshop at Stores Road. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on a varied fleet of HGVs, refuse vehicles and plant equipment within a secure, supportive environment.
The Role
You'll be responsible for:
Servicing, maintaining and repairing HGVs, plant equipment and Council vehicles.
Diagnosing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic faults.
Attending breakdowns and carrying out on-site repairs when required.
Welding, fabrication and body repairs.
Completing service and inspection records.
Supporting workshop stores and maintaining a safe, tidy workspace.
Working an alternating early and late shift rota (no night shifts).
Participating in an out-of-hours standby rota.
About You
You'll have:
Experience maintaining and repairing HGVs or heavy plant.
Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
Welding and fabrication experience.
A reliable, safety-conscious approach with good communication skills.
