Town Planner

Central London | Independent Planning Consultancy

If you’re currently working as a Development Management or Policy Planning Officer within a Local Planning Authority and have been considering a move into consultancy, this could be an excellent opportunity to make that transition.

PropSource Consulting is exclusively supporting a growing independent planning consultancy in Central London as they continue to expand their planning team. They’re looking to appoint a Town Planner and are particularly keen to speak with planners from local authorities who are looking for greater project variety, client exposure and long-term career progression.

Applications are also welcomed from planners already working within private consultancy.

The Opportunity

You’ll work across a diverse portfolio of projects, including strategic residential developments, mixed-use schemes and multiple GLA referable applications throughout London and the South of England.

You’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Manage planning applications from inception through to determination.
  • Prepare planning appraisals, reports and planning strategies.
  • Work directly with developers, landowners and a broad range of private sector clients.
  • Develop your project management skills with support from experienced Associates and Directors.
  • Gain exposure to major development projects and complex planning issues across London and the South East.

Why Join?

  • High-quality projects with genuine variety.
  • A supportive environment for planners making the transition from local authority into consultancy.
  • A growing consultancy where progression is based on ability, not waiting for vacancies.
  • A collaborative, low-hierarchy culture where your ideas and contributions are genuinely valued.
  • Direct exposure to senior leadership and clients from day one.
  • A dynamic, social team with regular events, including monthly Sip & Share sessions and a weekly run club.
  • A clear route for progression, with a strong track record of promoting from within.

About You

You’ll ideally have:

  • MRTPI status or currently working through your RTPI-APC.
  • Development Management, Planning Policy and/or consultancy experience.
  • Experience assessing planning applications, preparing reports or developing planning policy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • An ambition to continue developing your career within a collaborative and growing team.

Package

  • Annual bonus
  • Private healthcare (Bupa)
  • Pension
  • Hybrid working
  • 25 days’ annual leave

If you’ve been thinking about moving from local authority into consultancy or you’re already working in consultancy and looking for a fresh challenge, we’d love to hear from you.
