Recruiting on behalf of a leading professional membership body

About the Role

I’m supporting a well‑established professional membership organisation to hire a Membership Support Officer to join their busy Customer Support team on a 6‑month fixed‑term contract. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced, customer‑centric environment and enjoys helping people navigate their membership, training, and qualification journeys.

You’ll be the first point of contact for a diverse customer base including students, members, employers, and corporate clients—delivering a high‑quality, personalised service across phone, email, and CRM channels.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Acting as the first‑line contact for all inbound enquiries, providing clear, accurate and timely information.
  • Supporting customers with membership, subscriptions, training, events, and education‑related queries.
  • Meeting service targets across calls, emails, and CRM logging.
  • Processing payments for events, conferences, memberships, and subscriptions.
  • Conducting welcome calls and proactive outbound engagement to support onboarding, retention, and exam participation.
  • Upselling and cross‑selling relevant products, training, and membership benefits.
  • Supporting membership operations including applications, renewals, upgrades, exemptions, and record updates.
  • Collaborating closely with internal teams to ensure a seamless customer experience.
  • Handling sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in a busy customer‑focused environment, ideally making a mix of outbound and inbound calls.
  • Strong communication skills—confident on the phone and clear in writing.
  • Excellent listening, questioning, and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Highly IT‑literate with the ability to navigate CRM systems and multitask effectively.
  • A proactive, positive, and solutions‑focused approach.
  • Comfortable working to targets and contributing to team performance.
  • Calm under pressure, adaptable to change, and able to build rapport quickly.
  • A collaborative team player with a genuine customer‑first mindset.

Why This Role?

This organisation plays a significant role in supporting and developing professionals across the UK and internationally. You’ll be joining a supportive, mission‑driven team where customer experience is at the heart of everything they do. It’s a great opportunity to gain exposure to membership operations, education services, and commercial activities within a respected professional body.

If you’d like to discuss this opportunity or explore whether it aligns with your experience, I’d be happy to share more details.
