About the Role

We are recruiting for a Production Build Technicians to join a leading automotive manufacturer working on innovative vehicle programmes. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a highly skilled engineering team responsible for the assembly, testing and development of complex mechanical and electrical systems.

The successful candidate will have a hands-on engineering background and will be confident working from engineering drawings to build and test high-quality assemblies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble mechanical and electrical components to engineering drawings and work instructions.
  • Carry out the fabrication and fitting of components and sub-assemblies.
  • Perform functional testing, fault finding and debugging of assemblies to ensure they meet specification.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, technical documentation and assembly procedures.
  • Support prototype builds and new product development activities where required.
  • Carry out basic machining, fabrication or welding activities as part of the build process.
  • Identify build issues and work with engineering teams to implement improvements.
  • Ensure all work is completed to the required quality, safety and manufacturing standards.
  • Maintain a clean and organised working environment in line with company procedures.

Candidate Requirements

To be considered for this role, you should have:

  • Mechanical and electrical assembly experience.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles.
  • Experience of assembly, fabrication and fitting.
  • Experience carrying out testing and debugging activities.
  • Basic machining, fabrication or welding experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Good IT skills and confidence using engineering software and documentation.
  • Previous experience within the automotive industry.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Full eligibility to work in the UK.

Desirable Skills

The following would be advantageous but are not essential:

  • Experience within electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing.
  • Experience in motorsport engineering.
  • Prototype or low-volume vehicle build experience.
  • Knowledge of automotive quality standards and lean manufacturing principles.
