This is a relocation role. While the position is advertised in the United Kingdom, it is based on site at our Gold Coast head office in Queensland, Australia, and is not a UK based or remote position. The successful candidate will be required to relocate to the Gold Coast.
Position Purpose
The Senior Pattern Maker & Bridal Technician is responsible for leading the technical development of bridal garments from concept through to production readiness. This role partners closely with the Lead Designer to translate creative concepts into commercially viable, impeccably fitted, and production ready garments.
The position requires extensive expertise in pattern making, garment engineering, sample construction, and fit analysis, with a strong emphasis on luxury bridal craftsmanship and technical excellence. The role also supports continuous improvement initiatives across product development processes and construction methods.
Key Responsibilities
Pattern Development & Technical Design
Develop first patterns, toiles, and production patterns from design sketches, reference imagery, and design briefs.
Create and maintain accurate pattern specifications and technical documentation.
Conduct pattern amendments, fit corrections, and grading across all size ranges.
Ensure all patterns are commercially viable while maintaining design integrity and aesthetic standards.
Maintain pattern archives, construction notes, and technical records in accordance with company procedures.
Sample Development & Construction
Construct high quality prototypes and sales samples to company standards.
Execute complex garment construction techniques, including structured bodices, corsetry, draping, and internal support systems.
Work with luxury fabrics including lace, Mikado, satin, organza, tulle, crepe, and other specialty textiles.
Ensure all samples meet quality, fit, and construction requirements prior to approval.
Fittings & Garment Engineering
Lead and participate in garment fittings, identifying fit issues and implementing technical solutions.
Analyse garment balance, proportion, and functionality to ensure optimal fit and comfort.
Develop and refine internal garment structures and construction methods to improve fit, support, and wearability.
Recommend design and construction modifications to enhance product performance.
Product Development & Continuous Improvement
Collaborate with the Lead Designer throughout the product development lifecycle.
Provide technical recommendations regarding construction methods, fabric suitability, and production feasibility.
Identify opportunities to improve garment construction processes and development efficiencies.
Troubleshoot technical issues and implement corrective actions to minimise development delays and production risks.
Cross Functional Collaboration
Work collaboratively with Design, Production, and Quality teams to ensure seamless product development.
Communicate technical requirements clearly and effectively to internal and external stakeholders.
Support the onboarding and training of junior team members where required.
Contribute positively to a collaborative and high performing team environment.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications
Essential
Minimum 10 years’ experience in pattern making and garment construction within bridal, couture, eveningwear, or luxury fashion.
Advanced manual pattern making expertise, with digital pattern making experience highly regarded.
Extensive experience in bridal gown construction, structured bodices, corsetry, and internal garment engineering.
Strong understanding of garment fit, grading principles, and size consistency.
Demonstrated ability to interpret creative concepts and translate them into commercially viable products.
Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship.
Strong organisational, analytical, and problem solving capabilities.
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet critical deadlines.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Desirable
Experience working with offshore manufacturers and production partners.
Experience developing technical packs and production specifications.
Knowledge of plus size and petite fit development.
Previous experience mentoring or supporting junior team members.
