Consultant Urologist

Weekend Insourcing Opportunities

Contract: Locum / Sessional Working Pattern: Mainly weekends Location: NHS Trust sites across the UK

The opportunity

SAH Diagnostics works in partnership with NHS Trusts to provide additional urology capacity, support cancer pathways and reduce patient waiting times. We are recruiting experienced Consultant Urologists for flexible, well-organised insourcing assignments.

Assignments are matched to each consultant’s experience, competencies and specialist interests. There are no on-call commitments, ongoing departmental management duties or routine post-clinic administrative responsibilities.

Available services

Cancer pathways

  • Prostate and bladder cancer pathways.
  • Two-week-wait assessment clinics.
  • Results, treatment-planning and follow-up clinics.

Diagnostics and investigations

  • Flexible cystoscopy and urodynamic studies.
  • Local anaesthetic transperineal (LATP) prostate biopsies.
  • General anaesthetic transperineal (GA TP) prostate biopsies.

Treatments and procedures

  • Robot-assisted laparoscopic prostatectomy (RALP).
  • Transurethral resection of bladder tumour (TURBT).
  • Transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP).
  • Rezum therapy and transurethral laser ablation (TULA).
  • Bladder Botox and circumcision.

Specialist clinics

  • Andrology and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) clinics.
  • General urology and follow-up clinics.

Essential requirements

  • Full GMC registration with a current licence to practise.
  • Entry on the GMC Specialist Register for Urology, or equivalent consultant-level experience.
  • FRCS (Urol) or an equivalent specialist qualification.
  • Recent NHS experience at Consultant Urologist level.
  • Current competence in the clinics, investigations or procedures undertaken.
  • Current appraisal, revalidation and mandatory training.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Satisfactory professional references, occupational health clearance and DBS checks.
