Health and Safety Advisor

We are seeking an experienced EHS Advisor to support the delivery of Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) requirements across site projects and operational activities. Reporting to the EHS Manager, the successful candidate will play a key role in promoting a strong safety culture, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Fixed Term Contract for 12 months.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the Health & Safety representative for CDM projects.
  • Monitor compliance with CDM Regulations.
  • Support teams in completing and reviewing risk assessments and hazard identification activities.
  • Collaborate with teams to implement engineering controls identified through risk assessments.
  • Conduct site inspections and audits, providing clear reporting and follow-up actions.
  • Oversee completion of identified health and safety improvement actions.
  • Provide practical EHS advice throughout all stages of projects.
  • Mentor and support teams in health and safety best practices.
  • Promote a visible and proactive safety culture through regular site engagement and effective stakeholder communication.
  • Support the integration of “Safety in Design” principles during project design and planning stages.
  • Review contractor risk assessments, pre-construction information, Construction Phase Plans (CPPs), and participate in risk workshops.
  • Coordinate, manage and deliver EHS-related training, including:
    • Manual Handling
    • Risk Assessment
    • Environmental Awareness
    • EHS Inductions
    • Toolbox Talks
  • Support PUWER assessments.
  • Assist in the completion and review of COSHH assessments.
  • Drive EHS continuous improvement initiatives across cross-functional teams.
  • Communicate safety initiatives, notices, and alerts.
  • Support emergency planning and response activities.
  • Research and specify suitable PPE and other safety equipment.
  • Develop EHS procedures and work instructions.
  • Support compliance with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
  • Manage incident reporting and investigation processes.
  • Support training administration activities.
  • Contribute to environmental improvement initiatives, including Net Zero objectives.
  • Monitor EHS performance metrics and analytics.
  • Participate in EHS committees and emergency preparedness activities.
  • Deputise for the EHS Manager when required.
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties associated with the role.

Essential Qualifications

  • NEBOSH National General Certificate (or higher).

Experience Required

  • Proven experience in an Environmental, Health & Safety role.
  • Experience within manufacturing, food manufacturing, pharmaceutical, engineering, or similarly regulated environments would be advantageous.
  • Sound knowledge of current Health & Safety legislation and best practice.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Excellent knowledge of UK and Northern Ireland Health & Safety legislation.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
